Dear Students, Parents and Educators-
The first year of the Mt. Washington Valley Science and Technology Fair was an overwhelming success, and this year we hope to include even more opportunities for schools and families to participate.
This year’s event will again be held at the Technology Village in Conway on May 13th 2010, for students in grades 7 thru 12. We were thrilled to have elementary students showcase their research and advocacy work last year and welcome elementary demonstration projects this year.
The aim of our collaborative “design team” in 2008 was to create an event to inspire young people to explore, experiment and innovate using science and technology. Exceeding expectations, the Tech Village was buzzing with excited student scientists, demonstration projects, videoconferencing, and competitive judging. We had over 200 community members who attended and had participation from 3 different school districts in Maine and New Hampshire with over 50 student participants.
For this year’s science fair, the rules and requirements have been streamlined and students are encouraged to start early to identify areas of interest so mentor scientists might be contacted to serve as advisors.
The dire circumstances of our economy and environment cry out for young minds to begin to find better solutions for a sustainable future. Please help us continue this enduring partnership to help make a difference in our community and support the unique and developing minds of young people in the valley.
